Quotes by Author G D Grace (May 2011)

The further you get from caring what people think...the closer you get to totally loving who you are. Time waits for no one...how many steps have you taken today?

Stepping into your own, often times, means standing on your own, making decisions that will satisfy your own ambitions. At some point you have to believe in your own abilities and trust in yourself, because at the final curtain call you want to be able to say I did live my life to the fullest...GD

Each time I visit this quaint, quiet, non-congested city in this inland valley, it gets harder to readjust when I return to the crammed, over-populated Bay Area city where I work to make a living. But we gotta make it do what it do y'all..

Look! No, there. Can't you see it? Try harder. Focus. Darkness hasn't the power to keep light from seeping through... we just need to know where to look. (wink) GD

With each passing day, I embrace change & growth by being productive and progressive in my living...distancing myself from counter-productive mind-sets that our locked into a stagnated exisistence. Evolution flourishes when the mind is open to receive..

Standing at the cusp of success, know that there are always those prepared to say something, who wait in anticipation, believing you will fail, so concentrate on never missing a step, but if you should, climb 2 more the next time...

The life of a literary expressionist is filled with a creative aura that is often times misunderstood & under-rated, but Langston, Toni, Terry, James Earl, E. Lynn, James B., Maya and countless others have paved the way for us...and their contributions are all the inspiration I need...

One, two...for the sky so blue...three, four...for the breeze too lovely to ignore...five, six...for the day's enchanting lift...seven, & eight...for this peaceful mental state... What are you doing, GD? Just counting my blessings, that's all...

You know something that strikes me as odd? How the ones who may share your bloodline, or those supposedly close to you ,can rally around someone else's creative ventures, but barely even acknowledge your successes.
It's all good though, because they cannot even fathom the bright future that's in store for me. Strive without yielding... GD

Some of the more frustrating events in life will humble you and force you to your knees, but you must remind yourself that in the long run you'll be so much better. Afterwards you'll have more character and confidence than you ever dreamed possible.

Passion...the olive branch presented to me in life which reminds me that after the 40 days & 40 nights of rain there was, eventually, dry land. During the storm fear & uncertainty riddles the core of our faith, but when we look upward and see that stellar rainbow....we always remember "The Promise" GD

"Sculpture" (5-13-2011)

With the familiar against my back and the unfamiliar before me, I drove down a stretch of highway that is quickly becoming well-known to my senses.  I passed through cities I've known of but had rarely frequented, silently scanning them in passing, scoping out the scenery, inhaling the warm inland valley air.   The dry breeze that blew in and raced throughout my vehicle's core felt invigorating, and during frequent pauses I reflected, momentarily, then peered ahead towards the sanctity of the destiny I have been fighting hard to sculpt.

This parting of ways from the old and the introduction to the new hasn't been the easiest of transitions at times, but as I've mentioned before in prior blog posts, faith and a strong belief in self has resurrected a stagnated drive that I had, at one time, forgotten.   I remember when I'd draw for hours, closing out the situation and circumstances I was trapped in when I was younger, afraid of seeing all that I could become in life.   I was engulfed in an insane thought process of trying to live up to and fit into others expectations but, thankfully, I now reached a conclusion that it was all a part of growing up.

A fellow writer asked me to write an article for the July issue of her magazine, and I graciously accepted the invitation.  I was honored by her belief in my abilities and her interest in my point of view as a writer.   I start working on that project tonight.

You know, sometimes, as a writer, you second guess yourself, wondering if anything you share is really touching someone's heart or inspiring their imagination, however, when it's your passion you move forward out of a sincere desire and love of the literary craft.   That's the thing about writing, I know without a doubt in my mind that it is what I was placed here on earth to do.  I suppose I can call it my "calling" because I'd be doing it regardless of if I got paid to do it or not.  Now don't get me wrong, in order to achieve absolute freedom, I must strengthen my business savvy in order to earn money to fund my ambitious endeavors and sustain my living expenses.

Well, having just gotten off the road I'll leave it here for now, and say that I hope that a large warming dose of sunshine is "raying" down on you.

Be blessed, stay strong, and embrace your own self-worthy -- because you are worthy.

My Life “A Moment with Author, G D Grace” (5-6-2011)

My Life “A Moment with Author, G D Grace” (5-6-2011)

Nothing yields inner strength like the overcoming of obstacles.  Much about this life is learned through trial and error, and as a result of every encounter we become wiser.  April 8th was the date that this journey of mine forked and went into another unfamiliar direction and I hadn’t a clue as to how or  where I would sleep or shower, but here I am almost thirty days from that date still very much in the game.   Some of the reactions I observed from those near and distance surprised me on some counts, but on others I wasn’t the least bit surprised.  Doors that were opened came from the likely and the most unlikely, and I deem them all as blessings without question.
On this path in life I have learned that you never burn a bridge no matter how painful it may have been, because sometimes you just may have to cross back over it again.  Another thing I’ve embraced is that, regardless of the hateful things that some say or do bitterness is never a spirit to be carried around, for in the long run it is you who winds up miserable.
During these times of uncertainty, there is always a reason to be thankful and feel blessed.   By the Grace of God, my health is in tact and my mental balance stands solid.  This is what I constantly remind myself, because just as sure as night falls a new day yawns an appears thereafter.
The dream I began chasing three years ago has cleansed my soul thoroughly, so in spite of limited economical means I have just about reached a place where that leap of faith I took back then will manifest into a better existence for myself, and those closest to me.
After the dust settles some familiar faces will still remain, and I can honestly say that is a reward all in itself.
In 2011 “A Touch of Grace” the successful blog talk radio show that I founded back on September 2nd, 2010, will grow to heights beyond my wildest dreams.  I have guest lined up eager to grace the airwaves and tell their remarkable stories, and I can’t wait to resume the interviews.
In addition to “A Touch of Grace”, three more novels from the imagination of Author G D Grace will be published and I know that eventually my work will be known not just in the Unites States, but abroad.
“Isreal’s Freedom” is actually the first novel I wrote.  I found it one day going through some boxes of keep-sakes.  Once I read it in its entirety I knew that I had to release it. The story line is heartwarming, inspiring, and I know that a lot of romantics out there will embrace it.
Then there is “Daddy” the novel I was working on during the great “lap-top” crash in November of 2010.  It should have been completed by now, but you know something, better late than never.  “Daddy” is the story of a father’s committment to saving his teenage son from a life of jails, institutions, and death.  It will inspire an entirely different group of individuals.  I wanted to tell a story that depicted black men in a positive light, because we are a diverse and talented group of human beings.
Last but not least is one my favorites, “With Arms Around Me”; it is the story of a divine quilt with healing abilities.  It is also just about done.
So you see, I have been quietly investing in this literary craft, and am positioning myself to be a known and respected name in the literary and blog talk radio world.
My purpose is very clear to me, and I am not only investing in my own creative endeavors, I plan on making sure that those authors whom I network with will have their time to shine as well.   You see, giving of oneself includes giving back.
Well, that’s it for now…
To all of my friends and family, God’s blessings…
To all of my fellow artists….  keep the creative juices flowing…
